“The Permissions Group, Inc.” is officially 1 year old, although “The Permissions Group” has been in existence since 1990. From it’s original “one-woman” operation to the current staff of 6 full time researchers and additional part-time assistants “TPG” provides comprehensive copyright consulting.

The Permissions Group, Inc. negotiates the rights to use copyrighted materials in text and trade books, CD-ROMs, Audio CDs, E-books, internet-based products and other media on behalf of publishers across the world.

Company highlights:

bullet “TPG” was founded in 1990 by Cheryl Besenjak, author of Copyright Plain and Simple, 1997 (Career Press, revised 2001)
 
bullet TPG began adding staff, including Sherry Hoesly, the current owner, to the group in 1994. The company’s services in the late 1990s included training seminars, and a published newsletter, copyRights©
 
bullet TPG added photo research to our services
in 2000
 
bullet In 2005, after 8 years as Assistant Director, Sherry Hoesly purchased TPG changing the name to The Permissions Group, Inc. Milestones in our first year include upgrading all hardware and software systems and adding staff.
 
bullet NEW for 2006 – The Permissions Group, Inc. is now managing the reprint business of Tribune Media Services and McClatchy-Tribune Information Services (formerly Knight-Ridder Tribune).
